Venue Driver for Promoters

The "Early Crowd" is the group of people that come out to clubs or parties early on in the night. There are two main types of clubbers. Those who arrive late, and those who arrive early. If a party is advertised to start at 10pm, there is a percentage of people who will show up right at 10pm, and there is a percentage that will show up at midnight or later. Usually the people that show up late vastly outnumber the early crowd. But, this smaller Early Crowd is much more important than the late crowd.

If you've been a promoter for any length of time, you'll know about the importance of attracting and holding an early crowd at your party. This can be quite a challenge sometimes. People are fickle. If the early crowd shows up to your party and no one is there yet, they won't stay too long. If this keeps happening, you'll never build up a crowd. They will walk in, stay for a drink to see if things pick up, then leave when they don't. Then the next group does the same thing. Then the next. You'll end up with an empty party all night. No one wants to hang out at an empty club.

There are ways to solve this club promoting problem. I've developed all these techniques over the last 10 years that I've been working in this business. Follow my advice, and you should never have a problem with the Early Crowd leaving ever again!

Technique #1: Undercover Dancers

The first technique for attracting the early crowd to your parties is to use what I call "Undercover Dancers". It may sound silly at first, but you'll be surprised how well it works!

Undercover Dancers are girls that I've hired to hang out at the party early on in the night. Their job is to get the dancefloor moving right away, and keep the party fun in the early hours. This means they get out and start dancing with each other, and pulling other early crowd people up with them. This means when people start to wander into the club, they'll see a bunch of people on the dancefloor already. They'll walk in to see a couple of hot girls dancing with each other and having a good time partying with everyone else. This is a MUCH better thing to witness than an empty dancefloor with no one having fun.

When the early crowd starts to arrive, they will actually stay this time. They will call and text message their friends to come down right away too. It turns into a tidal wave of people coming through your doors early on! Attracting the early crowd like this will guarantee you have a packed club all night long. If you can't keep the early crowd at your party, it turns into a game of luck. I don't know about you, but I don't like to run a business based only on luck. Sometimes you have to stack the decks in your favour.

To hire your own Undercover Dancers, post some ads on Craigslist.org. I like to use a headline like: Promotion Girls Needed

Offer to pay them $50 to come down early for 2 hours or so. Give them a few drink tickets too, so they'll loosen-up. Make it clear to them that their job is to pretend to have fun dancing early on, even if they're the only ones on the dancefloor. Tell them to drag other people up to dance with them as well.

Most girls are happy to get paid $50 to start partying on a Friday or Saturday night, especially with some free drinks thrown into the mix. Who wouldn't want to get paid to dance around with friends and get drunk on the weekend? I know I would! After the two hours are up, they can head to another club with their friends if they want, but most times they will just stay at your party anyway. Another great thing about this technique is that many girls do not want to go out to the club by themselves. So even if you only hire one or two girls to do this, they will usually bring their friends along with them anyway. More girls = Bigger Party

It's always a winning combination.
